About Me

Hey there! I’m Maria. Originally from a neighborhood of Boston, MA called West Roxbury. I have a deep love for the coast and spent my childhood summers in Southern Maine.  Bristol, RI is home now, just a bit further south but still on the beautiful Atlantic seacoast. I also have a passion for cooking so if I’m not creating behind the camera, I’m usually creating in the kitchen. I’m also a Registered Nurse! My RN experience has helped me feel comfortable in many situations including the hospital for Fresh 48 sessions.

I grew up with cameras in my life from the very beginning. On my mom’s side of the family we say “it’s in our blood”. Since my first photography course, I knew that this was something I wanted to incorporate into my daily life - a calling you might say. Well, life got busy, and after some soul searching, I decided to start The Light Effect Photography to bring my skills to YOU! 

I’ve always lived by the thought “it’s better to have taken too many pictures than none at all.”

I’m here to preserve your memories so that you never look back and say, “oh I wish I had taken a picture of….” Or “I wish I had a picture of just the two of us” or “I wish I had a few pictures of the kids when they were (insert age here) years old.” Looking through my mom’s old photo albums has given me so much over the years, and has helped to preserve many memories. My goal is to be able to accomplish this for you and your family with our session!!
